Happy 'Tongue in Cheek' New Year

I said . . .

Simply
Be
In the
Moment
Here and Now,
That is all
You
Have to do . . .

. . . Somehow.

Somehow?

Yes,
Simply
Be
Just like
Me.

But How;
How do I
be
Just like
Thee?

. . . she asked, earnestly . . .

Like thee?
Oh,
You mean like
Me . .

. . I see . . .

Ah,
Well working that out is the
Trick;
You could go to a
Zen Master,
And
Get hit with a
Stick?

Zazen?

That's the
way?
Should I
Take that path
Today?

For some,

'The way it may be'

But probably not;
Ultimately.

So then,
not
Zazen?

. . . Maybe . . .

. . . but maybe . . .
Not,
Although I'm told
The Stick
Doesn't hurt
A lot.

How much?

I
Don't Know
It's not a
Way
That I would
Go!

So?

So?
Yes,
Well maybe sit and
Meditate,
Speed up your
Intelligence
at an alarming
Rate?

How
Alarmed
Should I be?

. . . he, he, don't ask me . . .

But I was told that you are a
Guru?

Sorry,
Me a
Who'ru?

You know,
A
Guru,
A
Teacher
A
Master?

Me a Master?
Excuse me, are you on
Drugs?
Doing that would be a
Disaster!

. . . we were smiling, there was laughter . . .

No
I'm not on drugs
But I
Seek to know,
To discover
Truth:
Where should I go?

Ahh,
A seeker are
You,
Want to know that
Which is
true?

Yes that's right
I sincerely
do.

Well
The truth my dear
is
Inside of
You.
There is nowhere to
Go
There is nothing to
Do,
This much I promise,
Sincerely,
Is
True.

Truth is not found
Out There

. . . somewhere . . .

Truth
 Is
Your
Reality,
That is why I say
All
You have to do is
Be .  .  .

.  .  .  Yes,
Be

Centered in
Be-ing
Just like
Me.

. . . she looked quizzically . . .

Bring your
attention
Into the
Here and Now:

See
What there is to see,
Hear
What there is to hear,
Feel
What there is to feel,
You can
Be
In the
Now,
Fully Present,
Even in the
Midst of a
Row . . .

. . . oh dear, she exclaimed, this is so confusing,
I just don't know how, my mind is
refusing. . .

Live in
Present Moment Awareness,
For
Only now is
Real.
Be
Where your
Body
is
And do it with
Zeal!

. . . I smiled at her, and she smiled back,
She could see through my eyes,
that truth isn't white or black . . .

The
Enemy
Is thought you
see,
It moves in your Psyche
Discursively.
It
Doesn't want you to simply
Be.

The
Thinker
wants to remain
Your
Master
And so it makes you
Think
Faster
and
Faster
Like a
Chattering Chimpanzee,
or a
Squaking Parrot
In its
Tree . . .

. . . making you
Unhappy.

Filling you up with
Emotional reactivity . . .

. . . but
That is not your
Reality . . .

. . . all you
Seek
Is
To be free?

. . . oh yes, she sighed, I long for this,
such liberation would be bliss . . .

Good,
Then keep
Bringing your
Attention
Into
The Flow
Of
this
Moment,
for an
Extension
of the
Unknown;
and you will
Discover
what is
Truly
Important.

. . . that is all you have to do for
Now . . .

. . . somehow . . .

Happy New Year to all who pass this way, and remember now, it's not what you know that's important, it's what you've forgotten . . . if only you could remember what it was!

She seeks it here,
She seeks it there;
But what she seeks,
Is already everywhere.

If she lets go,
And so, simply 'is';
She will discover,
Eternal life's perfect bliss.

  4. Love it. It has a hint of Dr. Suess. Very good advice.
I noticed that you became a follower of my Literary Girls Blog - I appreciate that - Unfortunately that blog is on hiatus for awhile. I am blogging at my Writer's Butt blog if you'd like to follow me there.

  5. Hi Mary,

Thanks for the comment and for updating me on which of your blogs to follow.

I had never studied the work of Dr. Seuss, although I've come across the odd quote here and there, so I just did a quick google search and I 'catch your inference'; thank you for that! :)

  8. Hi Doug, Happy New Year! There is absolutely nothing anybody needs to do that they're not already doing. How brilliant is that?

  9. Well that's the truth if ever the truth was!

Happy New Year to no one in particular, but especially to this particular nobody on this occasion ;-)

By the way, I'm in exactly the place I'm meant be right now, doing exactly what I'm meant to be doing . . how about you?

  10. Yes I am agreeing with this way of thinking. We think too much of the yesterdays and the tomorrows; instead of the nows!Right now!

  11. Ah, yes SarahA, we do . . but the good news is that we only have to 'be' in the moment, we don't have to think about it; thought is simply a regurgitation of a previous moment that no longer is :)
